About In Sort Order

Where alignment meets reality

Most organizing and productivity advice assumes the problem is you.

Not disciplined enough. Not motivated enough. Not consistent enough.

ISO starts with a different assumption: if a system consistently fails you, the system is wrong.

Not your effort. Not your habits. The structure itself.

In Sort Order exists to help you spot misalignment before you waste effort.

We teach two complementary frameworks:

SADP — for organizing spaces (physical and digital)
The Alignment Principle — for directing effort (work, tools, systems)

Together, they form a complete approach to managing complexity without grinding yourself down.

What makes ISO different is this: we don't pretend effort fixes everything. We don't assume one method works for everyone. And we don't treat organizing or productivity as a one-time achievement.

Life moves. Priorities shift. Energy fluctuates. Systems that can't adapt to that aren't worth building.

ISO asks three questions before you push harder:

Is this the right thing to work on?
Is this the right way for me to do it?
Is this the right time to apply effort here?

If the answer to any of those is no, more effort won't fix the problem.

We started with organizing. Sorting first, deciding later. Delaying the hardest emotional step until clarity arrived.

But over time, the same pattern kept appearing in other areas. Productivity tools. Time management. Decision-making. Work systems.

The problem wasn't always clutter. It was misalignment.

People working hard on the wrong thing. Using tools that fought their brain. Building systems that only functioned when everything was already going well.

ISO became a way to check alignment before increasing effort.

Organized people aren't better at cleaning. They're better at closing loops early.

Productive people aren't more disciplined. They've built systems that reduce friction instead of adding it.

Successful organizing isn't about having less. It's about having systems that work for how you actually live.

Here, you get to decide what "organized" means for your life. You choose what stays and what goes. You build systems that fit how you think, not how someone else thinks you should.

We don't require minimalism. We don't shame abundance. We don't assume your brain works like everyone else's.

We just help you see when something isn't working—and why.

Welcome to a place where systems adapt to you,
not the other way around.

Where effort follows alignment, not the reverse.

Where organizing is a process, not a performance.

In Sort Order was founded by Russ Edwards, who has been organizing spaces, systems, and projects since age 15. The SADP method and Alignment Principle grew out of decades of real-world application—from childhood bedroom systems to clearing out a parent's home, managing major renovation projects, and running multiple creative businesses simultaneously.

The philosophy is simple: most problems that look like effort problems are actually alignment problems. Fix the structure before pushing harder.
