Welcome to In Sort Order

If you're here because organizing feels impossible, you're in the right place.

Not because we have magic bins or color-coded perfection to sell you.

Because we're going to tell you something nobody else will:

Organizing isn't something you do once. Life doesn't work that way.

Here's What Nobody Tells You

Most organizing advice shows you the "after" photo.

The perfectly arranged closet. The Instagram-worthy pantry. The desk with nothing but a plant and a notebook.

What they don't show is what happens six months later when:
→ You get a new job and your schedule changes
→ Your kids outgrow their clothes (again)
→ You start a side project and suddenly have supplies everywhere
→ Life just... shifts

That perfect system? It breaks. Not because you failed. Because life moved and the system didn't.

And then you're back to square one, feeling like organizing just doesn't work for you.

What Is In Sort Order?

In Sort Order is built around one core idea:

Order is the natural state of everything. Chaos is what happens when systems break down.

Your job isn't to achieve organizing perfection. It's to restore order when chaos takes over. Which it always does.

We teach a method—not a system.

Systems imply permanence. They assume your life will stay the same.

Methods are repeatable. You can use them again when things inevitably fall apart.

The SADP Method

Sort first. Always.

Before you decide what to keep or toss. Before you buy containers. Before you label anything.

Just group like with like. Let the mess reveal its patterns.

From there:

**Sort** – Separate everything into categories. No decisions yet.

**Assess** – Now that it's sorted, you can see what you actually have. Facts replace feelings.

**Decide** – Keep what serves you. Release what doesn't. Store what you need but don't use often.

**Place** – Put things where they make sense for your life. Not where they look good in photos.

And when life shifts and your system stops working? Run through SADP again.

That's it. That's the whole thing.

This Isn't About Minimalism

You don't have to get rid of everything.

You don't need matching bins.

You don't need a capsule wardrobe or color-coded filing.

Organizing looks different for everyone. Some people organize by color. Some by size. Some by frequency of use.

There's no right answer. Just what works for you.

In Sort Order teaches you the building blocks. How you use them is up to you.

What to Expect Here

We write about organizing when we have something worth saying.

Not daily tips. Not Pinterest inspiration. Just real insights about:
→ Why systems fail (and how to rebuild them)
→ How to organize when you're overwhelmed
→ The universal pattern that shows up everywhere from closets to calendars
→ Stories from actual organizing projects—the good, the bad, the chaotic

If you're tired of advice that assumes your life is already organized, stick around.

Welcome to a place where organizing is a process, not a performance.

Where you decide what works and when you're done.

Where chaos doesn't rule your space—or your brain.

Let's get started.
